The Taylor 512ce Grand Concert is a compact-bodied steel string guitar well suited to fingerstyle playing. Introduced in 1978, the 512ce has changed somewhat over the years. Initially built with Mahogany for the back and sides with an X-braced top and a standard dovetail neck joint, the 512 gained the hybrid NT neck joint in 1999. This joint dramatically reduces the time to re-set the neck angle with little to no loss of tone. In 2018, the top was modified for new V-class bracing and now uses ‘Urban Ironbark‘ for the sides and back.
This Taylor 512ce Grand Concert, dating to 2012, is in very good clean condition with only minor play wear. It features a 24.875 inch (631.8mm) scale length for easier access to wider, low position chord voicings. The Sitka Spruce top is X braced, the sides and back are Mahogany and it has the excellent NT neck joint. As a subtle touch, the fingerboard binding is faux tortoise, adding a small amount of colour mostly visible only to the player.
