Hand built in Regina, Saskatchewan, the Sawchyn Beavertail Octave Mandolin is a professional quality yet entry level instrument. The materials and build quality are top shelf.
This Sawchyn Beavertail Octave Mandolin is the older, apparently discontinued ANO-83 version with Mahogany for the sides and back. The current version, the ANO-84, uses Maple instead, but with Mahogany used for the neck on both. The fingerboard and bridge are Ebony, and the head plate is Indian Rosewood. The tuners are by Gotoh and the tailpiece by Allen.
This fine instrument is in very good clean condition with only light wear. Sold with a hard shell case containing a sound-hole humidifier and 5 sets of D’Addario EJ80 Octave Mandolin strings
The Sawchyn Beavertail line includes Mandolins, Octave Mandolins, Bouzoukis, and Mandolas. The Bouzoukis are in the Celtic style with flat back rather than the Greek bowl-back style, and are frequently used in Celtic music.
