Here we have a beautiful Ron Kirn Signature Jag style custom thinline from 2016, featuring a quilted Maple cap on a Eucalyptus back.
In 1958, the ‘Offset’ body debuted with the Fender Jazzmaster, which also featured Fender’s first Rosewood fingerboard. In 1962, the Jaguar appeared at the top of the line and with a 24 inch scale length. Both models had a new style tremolo system and relatively complex electronics allowing player pre-sets.
This Ron Kirn Signature Jag takes the offset body design cues, but with a chambered thinline body with two custom not-quite-F holes. This construction style was introduced by Roger Rossmeisl during his work with Fender, particularly on the Telecaster Thinline.
The wood selection is spectacular and the sonic results are impressive. The back of the guitar is chambered, bookmatched flamed Eucalyptus while the top is quilted Maple. The neck is birds-eye Maple with a 24 inch (610mm) scale, 10 to 16 inch (254mm to 416mm) compound radius Ebony fingerboard, and Dunlop 6150 fret wire. The position marker dots are Abalone. The nitrocellulose lacquer finish has a Vintage tint.
For hardware, the tuners are Schaller locking models, and the bridge is a Gotoh hardtail. Electronics start with a pair of Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups, leading to a pickup selector, master Volume and master Tone. The volume and tone knobs are from Q-Parts, with Abalone tops.
Beyond its physical beauty, this guitar is presently strung with 11-50 gauge semi-flat strings, plays very well and is in very good, clean and original condition.
The Seth Lover pickups really sound great, full and clear.
The original rectangular hard shell case by G&G is included.
