Here we have a very clean, great condition Rickenbacker 620 in MapleGlo finish (gloss natural), dated to late March of 2012 in Santa Ana, California.
The Rickenbacker 620 was introduced in 1974 and its roots draw from the very late 1950’s model 450, a solidbody featuring the Cresting Wave body shape designed by Roger Rossmeisl.
Construction of the Rickenbacker 620 is simple, with a through-neck design using Maple for the two-piece neck and body wings, and Indian Rosewood for the bound fingerboard. A set of Schaller minis are at the headstock, and an ‘R’ tailpiece is used along with the distinctive Rickenbacker aluminum bridge – here complete with string cover. The Model 620 wiring is the same as used on the rest of the modern 600 series, with a pair of High-Gain pickups, selector switch, individual volume and tone controls plus a ‘mixer’ or blend control for the neck pickup. The outputs are Mono and Stereo or ‘Ric-O-Sound’; to use the stereo output, a cable wired the same way as a stock Insert cable goes from that jack to two separate inputs on an amp, mixing board, or two effects chains.
The original Rickenbacker molded hard shell case is included.
More From The Builder On The Rickenbacker Model 620:
“The Model 620 features the famous ‘Cresting Wave’ Maple cutaway body based on an innovative design from the 1950’s. A Rosewood fingerboard is punctuated beautifully with triangular pearloid inlay markers, while the maple double bound neck and body are solid through and through. The 620 is electronically engineered to the exacting standards of the 300 series, complete with Rickenbacker’s own high gain pickups and stereo output. Successfully retaining the balance from the original specifications, the 620 is another fine example of Rickenbacker quality workmanship. “
