Instrument Categories: Bass, Electric, Guitars, SOLD, Solidbody
As one of the most recent versions of the 4000 series, the Rickenbacker 4003 Bass has the most up to date features and hardware. This 2007 example sports the Blue Burst finish, colour of the year for 2005.
Rickenbacker is arguably the first builder to market production electric guitars, in both the lap steel format and the Electric Spanish format, in the Ken Roberts model.
The Rickenbacker 4000 series appeared in 1957 as the company’s entry into the electric bass market. It used a through-body neck design and the new ‘Cresting Wave’ body shape created by Roger Rossmeisl, who also created the 300 series models.
This Rickenbacker 4003 bass was built during 2007 at the Santa Ana facility, but its lovely Blue Burst finish was the ‘Colour of the Year’ for 2005. It is in very good condition, with virtually no wear and looks new. It plays well, and has the distinctive Ric bass tone.
The original Rickenbacker hard shell case contains the pickup cover and the original Ric brochure poster and unopened case candy bag.
