The Twelfth Fret ~ Since 1977 ~

❌SOLD❌ Gibson A-1 Mandolin Sunburst, 1941

Brand:

Instrument Categories: , ,

Built during 1941, this Gibson A-1 Mandolin Sunburst was a less expensive model with solid Spruce top and figured Maple back, but with laminate Maple for the sides. The un-bound fingerboard is Rosewood, sourced from Central South America. This example has a replacement Ebony bridge, and new, replacement tuning machines with pearloid buttons.

It also comes with a Tone-Gard unit already installed – this moves the mandolin back away from the player, increasing volume and projection by allowing the back to vibrate fully.

This lovely mandolin is in good working order, and has been recently set up at The Twelfth Fret Repair shop.

A modern Golden Gate case is included; these originally came with faux-gator fibre (cardboard) cases, most of which have deteriorated over the years.

The Gibson A-1 mandolin was first introduced in 1902 and built till 1918. It re-appeared in the catalog from 1922 to 1927, and appeared for the last time from 1933 to 1943.
