❌SOLD❌ Ramirez Elite 650a Tradicional Spruce and Madagascar Rosewood, 1995

The Ramirez Elite is a rare piece, hand built at the Ramirez shop in Madrid in very limited quantities with the finest materials and top quality craftsmanship. Based on the Centenario model that commemorated the hundredth anniversary of Ramirez family guitar building, the Elite uses the same quality of materials and ornamentation.

As with many other models, the Ramirez Elite is offered with either a German Spruce (A) or Red Cedar top paired with Madagascar Rosewood for the sides, back, head plate and bridge. The neck is Cedro or Spanish Cedar, and the fingerboard is Ebony. The headplate features a small ‘crown’ inlay, which until fairly recently was unusual for professional grade Classical and Flamenco guitars. The top is bound and has a ‘rope’ style purfling, while the back has multi-layer wood purfling. The nut and saddle are bone, and the tuners are by Rodgers and work very well.

This Ramirez Elite is a 650A Tradicional model, meaning that its scale length is 650mm, the top is German Spruce or Abeto, and the construction is like the top of the line 1a. The tint that Ramirez uses on tops makes it occasionally uncertain – from the outside – as to whether at top is Spruce or Cedar, but a quick glance inside the top with a mirror shows the bright white of the Spruce.

This guitar is in very good condition, and has been played enough to require a number of string changes. It has minor surface finish creases on the top back of the tie block from string changing, VERY minor wear at the rosette just below the high E string and a very tiny surface dent in the middle of the upper bout on the treble side.

As happens naturally over time with Nitrocellulose Lacquer, the finish is sinking into the pores and grain of the wood. This indicates both the passage of time and the thinness of the finish.   

The original arched top, hard shell case, built in Canada by Emex and branded with the Jose Ramirez logo is included.
