We’re continuing our review of the Ramirez guitar line, featuring Gordon O’Brien and Grant MacNeill. In this sequence Gordon and Grant are looking at the Ramirez 1a Traditional model.
The Ramirez 1a Traditional Model is the ‘benchmark guitar’ for tone and quality with Performers, Maestros, and Master-Luthiers world-wide, and in some periods was simply referred to as the ‘Segovia’ model.
Considered by many to be the ultimate Concert Performers’ guitar, the Ramirez 1a Traditional is offered in Red Cedar top and we can also supply it in German Spruce top by special order.
The Ramirez 1a Traditional is built with Indian Rosewood back, sides, bridge and headplate, and is also offered in artist-grade Madagasgar Rosewood. The neck is Spanish Cedar, with Ebony for the fingerboard.
Unique to the 1a Traditional model, the sides are cypress-wood lined in order to make the treble harmonic overtones more warm and lush-sounding. All of our 1a Traditional models are 650 mm scale length.
The price listed below applies to the ‘Standard’ Ramirez 1a Traditional model constructed with Red Cedar top and Indian Rosewood back and sides. A Spruce top and Madagascar Rosewood back and sides are available at extra cost; $300 for the Spruce top and $1900 for Madagascar Rosewood.
