The PRS EG4 was built from 1990 to 1991 at the first PRS plant in Annapolis, Maryland and features an Alder body, bolt on Maple neck with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard and SSH pickup configuration. The influence of the Fender Stratocaster is definitely clear in this design!
Here we’re looking at a Series 1 PRS EG4 with black finish and natural Maple neck with short heel, a 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard and Schaller non-locking tuners. The bridge is the PRS ‘vintage style’ trem. For electronics, the pickups are an SSH with a PRS HFS II humbucker in the bridge position, a pair of Seymour Duncan Vintage Flat SSL-2 single coils, a 5-way switch, master Volume and two tone controls. The middle pickup is RW / RP (Reverse Wound, Reverse Polarity) providing hum-cancelling when used with either of the other pickups.
These early models were not part of the SE line, and were made in the USA.
This instrument is in overall good condition, with very minor fret wear; the body finish shows signs of use with a number of small marks on the top and back, but no major dents or chips. The fingerboard has one dent at the 7th fret under the A string.
This is a really nice playing guitar, and the wide / slim neck is very comfortable.
Sold with the original hard shell case.
