Here we have an Oskar Graf Brazilian Rosewood Steel String guitar with natural gloss finish, built in Clarendon Ontario during early 2007. This fine guitar is based on the OM (Orchestra Model) design, known for its tonal balance and responsiveness.
Oskar Graf guitars are now built in a small shop, some distance northeast of Kingston, Ontario. He has been building since 1970 and his instruments are very well regarded. Raised and educated in Berlin, Graf apprenticed to a cabinetmaker and studied design. After a 1968 move to Toronto, Canada, he moved east to Clarendon and is now in the scenic town of Westport.
This Oskar Graf Brazilian Rosewood guitar is in very good, clean condition with light wear. It’s been lightly played, but also well cared for. It is constructed with a Sitka Spruce top, dark Brazilian Rosewood for the sides, back, and head plate, Mahogany for the body blocks and neck, and Ebony for the bridge and fingerboard. The fingerboard is bound in black, with a single white purfling line along both edges and the end. The slotted headstock has a subtle brass inlay around its perimeter. The top also has a thin clear pickguard on the treble side, extending all the way to the bridge. The saddle and scalloped nut are bone, and the position markers are a dots and slotted diamonds set in Abalone.
The tuners are probably made by Oskar’s brother Jurgen Graf, and are very accurate and smooth.
Fret wear is very light, and the action is very comfortable. The tone is full and evenly balanced.
An arched-top hard shell case, likely the original, is included.
