Brand: Oskar Graf
Instrument Categories: Classical and Flamenco, Guitars, SOLD
Here we have an Oskar Graf 10 String Classical guitar, built during 2006 at the Graf Clarendon shop. It features a Cedar top with Indian Rosewood for the back, sides, headplate and bridge, with Ebony for the fingerboard. The neck and heel are Mahogany, but because of the width of the neck, it is made in three pieces with a narrow center strip.
The nut and saddle are bone, and the gold-plated Hauser style tuners have pearlescent buttons. A microphone style pickup is installed to an endpin jack.
Typical of the care and skill in the creation of this Oskar Graf 10 String, the cutaway meets the heel perfectly in a compound curve. Not only does the heel taper, but the taper follows an arc and the side matches the arc. Around the neck joint and heel cap and binding there is a small amount of lacquer crinkling, purely due to age.
This fine Oskar Graf 10 String has an incredible range. I lack the skill to display its potential, but from low to high every note is clear, full, and clearly defined with good projection.
The original Armitage custom hard-shell case is included.
Oskar Graf has been hand building custom, top quality instruments since 1970. Currently near Clarendon, Ontario, Graf is from Berlin and apprenticed as a cabinetmaker and studied design there. He’s built hundreds of instruments that exhibit his very high degree of skill and craftsmanship.
