Brand: Osamu Nakade
Instrument Categories: Classical and Flamenco, Guitars, REDUCED, SOLD
This is a rarity for us – a very nice Osamu Nakade C15 Classical Guitar, with the label signed and dated to 1990 at Tokio Japon. These models are usually found in the Japanese market.
This Osamu Nakade C15 classical guitar is in overall good condition, and constructed in the ‘hybrid’ style, with a dovetail-type joint attaching the neck and body, rather than the traditional Spanish ‘Slipper Heel’ that ties the body and neck together. The top is Spruce, the sides, back headplate and bridge Indian Rosewood, body blocks, linings and neck of Mahogany and Ebony for the fingerboard. The build quality, fit and finish are top notch. There are a few small dings and dents around the body.
Now 43 years old, this Osamu Nakade C15 does not appear to have been played extensively, so it will still have room for its voice to develop with serious playing. As is, it plays well and has a full, rich sound with plenty of projection.
Sold with a hard shell case, perhaps its original.
Osamu Nakade is a son of one of the earlier and very influential Japanese classical guitar builders.
In the 1950’s, Japanese interest in classical guitar and guitar building was growing to serious levels, sparked partly by Andres Segovia’s pre-WW2 concert tours.
A number of Japanese builders, with brothers Sakazo and Rokutaro Nakade amongst the very first, travelled to Spain to learn from well established builders like Jose Ramirez and Hernandez y Aguado. On their return to Japan, they trained many local builders including their sons; Rokutaro’s son is Osamu Nakade. Having trained so many luthiers, they are often considered the founder of the Japanese school of Spanish lutherie. Many Japanese luthiers trained with the Nakade brothers.
Later, Spanish builders traveled to Spain to teach there, including Eduardo Ferrer from Granada who worked with Yamaha.
