The National Reso-Phonic ResoRocket WB appearead first at our door during 2013 as a prototype version callend the ‘Wocket’, or Wooden Rocket. Since then, it’s become one of National’s three standard Bendaway body models. The Bendaway is a single-cutaway, single cone body design with a 12-fret neck, available in Steel, Wood, and Nickel. The head stock uses a distinctive multi layer overlay with faux pearl top, engraved to produce the National shield and trim. The soundholes are opened with a grille work reminiscent of the famous Tricone models.
National’s ResoRocket WB model is very popular and practical. It is quite light and well balanced compared to the metal bodied versions, and the Mahogany used for the body and neck give it a welcome warmth and depth. It is ideal for long periods of play, and rewards the effort with a full, rich tone. Of course – it is a National and it is also built to project and deliver that rich tone with sufficient volume.
National Reso-Phonic has this to say about the ResoRocket WB, the Wooden Rocket:
“The Mahogany-bodied ResoRocket WB combines the lovely sonority of a wooden body in a Bendaway single-cone instrument to create a unique National guitar.
Mahogany provides a warm, rich tone as well as distinctive style. The Tricone grill work on the soundports is also replicated in wood. The neck too is made of mahogany, capped by an ebony fretboard with ivoroid binding and dot markers.
With the upper bout modified for easier access to the higher frets, this is both a versatile and beautiful-sounding National.”
