Michael Messer is a well known English guitarist, who has over the years focused on steel and slide guitars. His line of resophonic guitars draws from his decades of experience playing these instruments, and aims towards an affordable but high quality guitar.
Here’s Twelfth Fret President, Grant MacNeill’s view on this particular Michael Messer Blues 14:
“We don’t see many of these show up as second hand guitars. This Michael Messer Blues 14 is in virtually new shape and has seen very little playing time. We have freshly set it up at 5/64 to 7/64 action which is ideal for a mix of fretted and bottleneck tunings in a variety of tunings.
This model is designed by Michael Messer with a special alloy, biscuit-cone for well balanced, authentic Delta-Blues tone and great sustain and volume. Messers have a big, chunky, pre-war style neck which is fitted with a modern fully adjustable truss rod.”
Here is the builder’s description of the Michael Messer Blues 14:
“Steel bodied 12 fret and 14 fret classic 1930s design. Spun aluminium cone, three-on-a-strip vintage-style open tuners, steel body, greyburst 1930s-style paint finish, mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard, bone nut, maple biscuit, box bridge. The MM BLUES is fitted with Michael Messer Newtone Guitar Strings and a pod style case. Setup in the UK at Dave King Acoustics”
