Here’s an unusual piece – a Mayones Regius Pepper 7 String neck-through model with Trans Black ‘Eye’ Poplar top, hand built during 2012 at the Mayones shop in Gdansk, Poland.
Mayones has been building higher end instruments since 1982 and while they offer a range of ‘standard’ guitar and bass models, they also offer custom builds through their Custom Shop and a build-to-order programme.
Seen here is a Mayones Regius Pepper model in 7-string form from 2012. The core of the guitar is a neck-through design with Wenge, Mahogany, Amazakoe (also called Ovangkol) and Maple layers and an 24-jumbo-fret Ebony fingerboard for the neck section. The body ‘wings’ are Swamp Ash, and the front body cap and head plate are ‘Eye’ Poplar with a Trans-Black finish. The hardware has black plating, and starts with a set of Sperzel locking tuners and a hard-tail 7-saddle bridge with black rear ferrules for a string-through design. Electronics are a set of Mayones TKO humbuckers custom built by Bare Knuckle in the UK, running through a 3-way pickup selector and master volume and tone controls. The Volume control is a push-pull that splits the pickups.
This Mayones Regius Pepper is in great , all original condition with very little wear. It’s fairly unusual to see these higher end custom European guitars here in North America.
The original Mayones hard shell case, built by Hiscox in the UK is included. These cases are very good we have them available in our online shop for sale.
