The Martin HD-28V Dreadnought was part of the Vintage series, produced from 1996 to 2019 and was the most popular Vintage Series model. The HD-28V represented a modern re-creation of the classic herringbone Dreadnought, channeling legends like Hank Williams.
The Martin HD-28V Vintage Series Dreadnought Guitar incorporates the most popular pre-war features into a vintage Herringbone D-2 format. Grained ivoroid bindings, forward-shifted scalloped bracing, butterbean tuning machines, and diamond-and-squares fingerboard inlay combined to make an exceptional pre-war replica both in tone and appearance.
Here we’re looking at a Martin HD-28V dating to January of 2008, in very nice condition and with a few customizations. An L R Baggs pickup and preamp system have been installed to an endpin jack, and the guitar has been re-fretted with Jescar EVO gold coloured fretwire. EVO fretwire is a mid-point between standard fretwire and Stainless Steel, providing enhanced durability. Most visibly, a custom faux-tortoise pickguard has been installed, and the original vintage through-style bridge has been professionally altered to accommodate a modern drop-in saddle.
Overall, this Martin HD-28V is in good condition with light wear to the finish and plays quite well, with the re-fret contributing to the smooth action. It has the warm, full and powerful sound that the D-28 has always been associated with.
The original hard shell case is included.
