The Martin D18 Dreadnought has been one of the staples of the Martin line, and the choice of countless guitarists since its introduction in 1931. Built with a simple pairing of Sitka Spruce for the top and tropical Mahogany for the sides, back, body blocks and neck, the D-18 also features Ebony for the bridge and fingerboard and Indian Rosewood for the head plate. The top is braced using a forward-shifted X pattern.
Here we’re looking at a Martin D18 dreadnought dating to September of 2012. It’s in great condition with very little finish wear. Fret wear is light with most of the wear at the first three frets. This version of the D-18 has no stock electronics, and uses open-gear Martin branded tuners. It plays quite well, with the action at 4/64ths inch treble and 6/64ths bass, and has a full, rich sound with the characteristic D-18 high end sparkle.
The original hard shell case is included.
More From The Builder On The Martin D18 Dreadnought
“Understated looks, timeless tone. The warm tone of mahogany and authentic Sitka spruce couple with resonant scalloped bracing under the hood for a sound that’s honest, authoritative, and clear. Vintage details like open-geared tuners and classic 18-style appointments pair with a modern, low profile neck for an old-soul sound in a brand-new body.”
