The Martin D-18 Dreadnought is one of the truly iconic guitars and its popularity has also made it one of the most copied. Originally designed to compete with instruments like banjos on unamplified bandstands, its somewhat bass-biased tone makes it ideal as a rhythm instrument, while the Mahogany back and sides add high end sparkle for fingerstyle.
Here we’re looking at a Martin D-18 Dreadnought built during June of 2019 with a Sitka Spruce top and a nicely figured, bookmatched set of Mahogany for the sides and back. The body blocks and neck are also Mahogany; the head plate is Indian Rosewood, the bridge and fingerboard are Ebony, and the nut and compensated saddle are bone. Tuners are traditional Grover Sta-Tite open gear. While this guitar originally shipped without electronics, a K&K passive pickup set has been installed to an end pin jack.
This example is in very good clean condition with only very light wear to the finish and frets.
The original hard shell case is included.
