Here is a fairly rare item – a Martin 000C Steve Miller Pegasus Signature Edition, in great shape and with a very good, rich voice and minimal wear. This example has been lightly played, with corresponding light fret and finish wear.
Offered during 2005 in a run of 383 instruments, the Martin 000C Steve Miller Pegasus Signature Edition featured a venetian-cutaway body of Englemann Spruce top with lightly scalloped hybrid bracing, lightly quilted Mahogany for the sides and back, OM-width bound Ebony fingerboard on a Mahogany neck, and an alternative Torch inlay from 1902 at the peghead. The bridge and bride pins are Ebony. The Mahogany back sports a ‘Style 45’ center strip, and the top has Herringbone purfling and an Abalone rosette ring.
For hardware, the tuners are open-gear Martin branded models. The installed Fishman Ellipse set includes an under-saddle pickup and an internal microphone; the battery box is mounted to the neck block. The finish is nitrocellulose lacquer with an ‘aging’ toner for the top.
The Martin 000C Steve Miller Pegasus Signature Edition has a pair of labels visible through the soundhole. On the bass side, the label features Miller’s Pegasus graphic surmounted by the C F Martin logo. The treble side ‘standard signature model’ label identifies the model followed by signatures of Steve Miller, C. F. Martin IV, and Dick Boak – Martin’s Artist Relations manager – and below all that, is identified as number 325 of 383.
The original arched top, hard shell case is included. This case is specific to this guitar model, with black covering, black interior and black latch and hinge hardware.
