The classic C.F. Martin 000-28 has been in production since 1902, with alterations reflecting requirements of the times, like the switch to 14 fret necks from 12 and to Indian Rosewood from Brazilian. The 000 size body provides extra volume and fuller bass response, excellent for performance situations. The 000-28 uses a somewhat shorter scale length, 24.9 inches, than the full 25.5 inch scale on many other Martin models.
Dating to 2006, this C.F. Martin 000-28 features a Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany for the neck, heel and tail blocks. The neck uses a hand-fitted dovetail joint. The fingerboard and bridge are also Indian Rosewood; current 000-28 models use Ebony for those two components.
This example also features a Fishman Aura pickup system, wired to an endpin jack.
Overall, this C.F. Martin 000-28 Steel String guitar is in very nice condition, with minor wear. The finish doesn’t have any significant scratches, just very light scuffing that would polish well. Fret wear is light to moderate, and there’s plenty of material for a light fret dress to make them look new. The guitar has been played, but well cared for. This body style is tonally much more even than the big D body Dreadnoughts, which tend to be weighted towards bass.
The original hard shell case is included.
