The family of Manuel Rodriguez has been building guitars for over a century, opening their first shop in Madrid, Spain during 1905. Over the decades they have lived outside of Spain and for a time in the Los Angeles area, but since 1973 have been active once again in Madrid. In 1994 they opened a production facility in Toledo. Now, they are one of the largest producers of guitars in Spain.
Here we have a Manuel Rodriquez Hijos FC model classical guitar, built during 2011 in Madrid. It features solid wood construction, with a Canadian Cedar top, Indian Rosewood for the back, sides, bridge and headstock overlay, and a Spanish Cedar neck with ebony fingerboard. The scale length is 648mm and the nut width 51mm. It is built in the traditional Spanish ‘Slipper foot’ method, so the sides are integrated into the heel. The internal linings are solid, not kerfed. The action height is set to 8.5 /64ths on the bass side and 7/64ths on the treble.
This guitar is in overall good condition, with one small ding on the treble side of the top. A brown hard-shell case is included.
