Brand: Sakurai
Instrument Categories: Classical and Flamenco, Guitars, SOLD
The M. Sakurai No.8 classical guitar was part of a line of guitars built by Masaki Sakurai as he was learning in the workshop run by his uncle, Masaru Kohno.
The M. Sakurai No.8 is built using solid Cedar tops and laminate Indian Rosewood for the back and sides, and solid Rosewood for the headplate and bridge. The Mahogany neck carries an Ebony fingerboard, and is joined to the body with a dovetail joint, departing from the ‘slipper heel’ found on traditionally built Spanish guitars. Likewise, the top does not use Spanish style fan bracing, but includes three cross braces with the fan struts.
This particular M. Sakurai No.8 dates to 1977 and was built at the Kohno shop in Tokyo. It is in overall good condition, with the back, sides and neck being very clean, but noticeable though not extreme or extensive fingernail wear on the top. It is a full 650mm scale guitar, with traditional 52mm nut width, and plays well. It has a full, warm, developed voice.
The original brown hard shell case is included.
