Brand: Lowden Guitars
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Classical and Flamenco, Guitars, Other Guitars, SOLD
The Lowden S25J is part of the Jazz Series, built on the cutaway Small body but built for use with nylon strings and aimed towards jazz and latin players who need the expressiveness of nylon strings. There is another model in the Jazz series, the S32J, and the primary difference is that Alpine Spruce is used for the top instead of Cedar. Both models are available with a number of optional woods for the back and sides.
This S25J built, according to Lowden’s label and serial number guide, during 2003 at the Lowden plant in Newtownards, Northern Ireland – about 16 km east of Belfast. This guitar pairs a Cedar top with Indian Rosewood for the sides, back, headplate and bridge. The neck is Mahogany with an Ebony fingerboard. The rosette is Abalone. Standard hardware includes high quality Schaller tuners and a factory installed pickup system, the Fishman Matrix Infinity. This guitar is ready to gig!
This example is in overall good condition, though there are a few small marks on the top. It plays well, and has the immediate warmth and responsiveness that makes Cedar a prime choice for quality nylon string guitars.
A Hiscox Liteflite case is included.
From the Lowden Guitars site on the Lowden S25J and S32J Jazz Series models:
“Designed so that it would feel very comfortable for classical and steel string players alike. The neck has enough width to facilitate the nylon strings but at the same time the cambered fingerboard allows for a wide variety of playing styles.
The Lowden Jazz is fitted with an board pickup as standard. The soundbox is voiced for a really great acoustic response, and at the same time stiff enough to prevent the whole guitar from overreacting when played loud through a sound system.”
