Brand: Kolya Panhuyzen
Instrument Categories: Classical and Flamenco, Guitars, SOLD
Here is another fine and unusual guitar, a Kolya Panhuyzen Maple Body Classical model built in Toronto, Canada during 1987. Kolya Panhuyzen grew up around classical guitar construction and worked with his uncle, Edgar Monch, in both Germany and Toronto. The time that Monch spent in Toronto was key to the development of a number of Canadian guitar builders, notably Jean Larrivee and all of his apprentices.
Over the years, the instruments that evolved into modern classical and flamenco designs used all available woods. Maple was a fairly common body wood for Romantic era guitars. Here, this Kolya Panhuyzen Maple pairs a European Spruce top with a very nicely figured European Flame Maple set. The body blocks and neck are Mahogany, the fingerboard is Ebony, and the head plate and bridge are Central American Rosewood. Tuners are Schaller models, and the finish is a very light layer of lacquer applied via French Polish. There are no electronics!
This lovely instrument is in very good, clean and original condition with the very lightest wear. It has no signs of any kinds of damage or repairs. It plays well, and has a fairly bright voice, though it may not have been played enough to fully develop.
This Kolya Panhuyzen Maple classical is sold with an Everest double-arched hard shell case.
