Brand: Karol Guitars
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, Other Guitars, SOLD
The Anthony Karol Baritone guitar is an impressive beast, with a large body to provide clarity and volume for the low pitched tones it produces.
This Karol Baritone example dates to 2013, and features a Cedar top with figured Walnut for the sides and back, Mahogany for the neck and Ebony for the bridge, head plate and bound fingerboard. The distinctive inlays, a K at the headstock, and a dragonfly at the octave fret, are executed in Mother of Pearl and Paua shell. The Rosette is a combination of Puau and Walnut. On the bass side a Laskin style arm-rest and a soundport are installed.
Though the label doesn’t have a date, there is a signature and 2013 on the inside of the top. A set of gold-coloured Gotoh 510 tuners, gold plated strap pin and output jack and a passive K&K pickup round out the hardware.
Like other instruments of this type, the Karol Baritone has a very full, rich tone. It plays well, and the body design and wood selection are very attractive.
This guitar has recently been serviced at The Twelfth Fret Repair Shop.
The original TKL-built double-arched, tweed hard shell case is included.
Here is what the builder says about the Karol Baritone:
“Created to fill the need for fingerstyle guitarists who were looking for something different to create with, the Karol Baritone adds a whole new range to the player’s arsenal of tunings and deep bass tones.
The standard scale length is 28.44 inches, but is available in scales from 28 to 29 inches. In addition to these, multiscale fingerboards from 27.5 to 29 inches, the Baritone is tuned normally A to A or B to B using gauges 16 to 70.
The Karol Baritone is built on either the traditional Jumbo, Signature XL, or the Solo platform, due to the need for the large volume sound box to enhance the lower pitched tunings of this model.”
