❌SOLD❌ Jon Perry CS Series Semihollow Electric Guitar Sunburst, 2014

The Jon Perry CS is a single cutaway, thinline guitar built in Toronto using a Maple top and back set on a Mahogany core.

Jon Perry builds in the south western part of downtown Toronto, and builds three basic styles – the CS series, a chambered solidbody creating the impression of a traditional thinline; the AT series, a small bodied archtop guitar; and the S Series of solidbody guitars, often in a ‘T style’ design. He has run his shop since 2014.

Here we’re looking at a Jon Perry CS series guitar, possibly fairly early; as it has no serial number or dating information, based on the apparent age and wear levels, we’re placing it to around 2014, around the time he founded his shop. The lacquer finish is sinking nicely into the pores of the Maple and Mahogany, and the curl figure in the Flame Maple is rising somewhat – the figure is clearly visible, which is nice.

The body uses a chambered Mahogany core sandwiched between carved Flame Maple top and back plates, with Bloodwood used for the center back strip and for binding. The neck is Mahogany, using a Scarf joint for headstock strength, and the fingerboard is Bloodwood-bound Ebony with minimal Mother of Pearl oval position markers. For hardware, Grover Roto-Matic tuners are installed and the body carries a roller tune-o-matic style bridge paired with a stop tailpiece; all these metal parts are gold plated. The gold-covered pickups are Seymour Duncan ‘Seth Lover’ models, named after the famed Gibson engineer who invented the humbucking pickup.

This guitar plays well, and sounds great. Wear is minor.

The tops and back are carved from AAA flamed Canadian Maple paired with mahogany core. This core has been chambered for weight reduction with additional cavities for the modern shaped “f-hole” and electronics.”
