OK … so why the heck does a guy like me who comes from an acoustic guitar building background and has inhaled enough exotic sawdust to bury a small subdivision … absolutely LOVE these all metal electric guitars? Hey … as far as I’m concerned, how could you NOT like them! These things are just wild!!!

Many of you will already be familiar with Trussart guitars. James Trussart began building guitars in Paris around 1980 and has since moved his workshop to Los Angeles where he crafts his one-of-a-kind instruments for a growing clientele including Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, Bob Weir, Doyle Bramhall II, Geezer Butler, Graham Nash, Joe Walsh, Joe Perry, Johnny Winter, ZZ Top, Robert Cray & Sonny Landreth to name just a few!

Each Trussart is a distinctive work of art. Just check out the “available list” on his website to see what I mean. With 6 basic models and a myriad of finishes, electronics and options, there are almost unlimited opportunities to create a very unique piece!

Our very first Trussart is the STEELCASTER model pictured above which features a ” rusty ” finish, custom 3 single coil pickup configuration and holey front & back panels! Apart from it’s appealing & inimitable aged aesthetics, this thing plays and SOUNDS like a dream! These Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro pickups replicate all of the spank and sparkle of a vintage Tele / Strat hybrid but with less of the harsh attack transient! Looking for something really special?

James Trussart Guitars : Deluxe Steelcaster in Copper

The Deluxe version of the Steelcaster has found it’s way into the hands of many touring recording artists! This particular instrument is a particularly handsome piece with it’s holey back panel, Gator textured pickguard and absolutely stunning Copper finish!

This Trussart Deluxe Steelcaster also features Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro II neck humbucker and bridge single coil pickups as well as a very vintage feeling maple neck with a 7″ radius rosewood fingerboard and my favorite fret wire in the universe … the narrow/high Dunlop 6105!!!

James Trussart Guitars : SteelDeVille

The SteelDeVille is another classic design that James Trussart interprets in his own inimitable way! This particular one has a “holy front and alligator back” with Trussart’s aged “rusted” finish, full 24 fret neck, 24 3/4″ scale length, Seymour Duncan Alnico II humbucking pickups (P-90s optional) and get this … a piezo bridge!!! The four pots give you Volume Neck PU, Volume Bridge PU, Tone for magnetic pickups and finally, Volume for the piezo bridge.

When I plugged this one in I couldn’t believe all of the different sounds I could get out of this guitar! We are talking about musical, USEABLE sounds … not novelty sounds that you would never be able fit into your set. This instrument really has a potent arsenal of tone!!!

The SteelDeVille is now part of the touring gear of recording artists such as the Black Crowes, Iggy Pop, Guns’n Roses and Metallica among others!.
