The Jackson Stars line featured a number of familiar Jackson models and was built in Japan with very high quality, with importation limited 1990 and 1991. Subsequently, sales of these pro-level models was limited to the Japanese market. These followed the successful Charvel series, and began in 1990. In 1992, production of bolt-on models began and importation of that line continued.
This Jackson Stars SL-2H, Made In Japan and according to its serial number, during 1990. On these guitars, the serial number is an impressed stamp located on the body end of the fingerboard. It’s a six digit number, with the first digit indicating the year, counting from 1990. Since the first digit on this guitar is 0, this is a 1990 model.
The Jackson Stars SL2H is a neck-through design, with a Maple center block, Alder wings and compound radius Ebony fingerboard and jumbo frets and mother of pearl shark fin position markers. It’s equipped with Gotoh tuners, a Floyd Rose locking trem system, and two humbuckers wired to a master volume, tone, and pickup selector. The neck pickup is a diMarzio ‘Humbucker from Hell’ and the bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan ‘Dimebucker’. The visual aesthetic is straightforward – it’s black!
