The Ibanez LGB30 George Benson, introduced in 2013, is a take on the classic single-cutaway archtop electric produced by Gibson for many years. This is the lowest price of the Ibanez George Benson Signature line.
George Benson has worked as a jazz guitarist and singer since he was nine, and came to worldwide attention with his 1976 album ‘Breezin’. He’s continued to work, writing, performing and recording.
Featuring classic lines, the Ibanez LGB30 has a 15.75 inch (400mm) wide and 3.625 inch (92mm) deep body with a sharp Venetian cutaway. The arched top is Spruce laminate, with Flame Maple laminate for the sides and arched back. The neck is a 3 piece construction, the centerpieces being Maple and the outer sections Nyatoh. The bound fingerboard, bridge base, and the tailpiece are Ebony. The position markers are characteristic Ibanez split Mother of Pearl blocks with diagonal Paua shell center sections. The finish is a classic Vintage Yellow Sunburst and as an interesting touch, the pickguard is painted to match.
All the hardware on the Ibanez LGB30 is gold coloured, including an adjustable ART-1 bridge, sealed tuners, and Super 58 pickups. Wiring is traditional for this type of instrument, with a 3-way pickup selector and individual volume and tone controls. As stock, it is strung with flatwound strings.
The Ibanez LGB30 is and excellent entry level cutaway archtop and is sold with its original hard shell case.
