Here’s a great condition Ibanez AM-70 Artist Compact Thinline Archtop in Black finish, dating to 1985, its first year. This model was only built until 1987.
With proportions somewhat like the Gibson ES-339 models, the Ibanez AM-70 is a scaled down version of the classic ES-335 style models. The top, back and sides are laminate Birch with a Maple center block. The neck is 3-piece Maple with a bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard.
For hardware, the Ibanez AM-70 features Ibanez Smooth Tuner II models at the head, and a ‘ShortStop’ bridge / tailpiece combination (influenced heavily by the Leo Quan Badass models from the 1970’s) is at the body. Pickups are fairly high output Ibanez IBZ models (DC Resistance often over 12K ohms), and the electronics follow a standard independent volume and tone setup with a three-way selector switch. IBZ pickups are now made for Ibanez by DiMarzio.
This excellent guitar is in very good, clean condition and plays well. It’s not entirely original as at one point it was wired with ‘Stereo’ outputs on the side. This wiring has been removed and the holes filled. The working output jack is the original, top-mounted part.
The original hard shell case is included.
