Huss & Dalton L-13 Standard Rosewood Sunburst

Here we have a Huss & Dalton L-13 Standard in Rosewood, based on the classic Nick Lucas models made by Gibson from 1927 to 1938. The L-13 is part of the Huss & Dalton Crossroads line.

Featuring a Sitka Spruce top and here with Indian Rosewood for the sides and back, the Huss & Dalton L-13 Standard is also available with Mahogany for the sides and back, while the L-13 Deluxe uses figured Maple and sunburst on the back as well as the top. For all models, the body blocks and neck are Mahogany, with Indian Rosewood for the bridge and bound fingerboard. The neck joins the body at the 13th fret, rather than the 12th or 14th; 14 fret necks only started to appear in the very late part of the 1920s as banjo players migrated to guitar.

As the first jazz guitarist to record as a soloist, his popularity during his lifetime came from his reputation as a singer as well as with his signature song, “Tiptoe Through the Tulips” in 1929. The Deluxe version features a Sitka Spruce top paired with Maple back and sides with a gorgeous all-over sunburst. The Maple neck has a 1-3/4″ vintage taper with gloss finish sporting an Indian Rosewood fretboard with the popular ’27-style Lucas inlay. The peghead features the lovely fleur-de-lis inlay.

Also available as Crossroads L-13 Standard with a Sitka spruce top and either Indian Rosewood or Mahogany back and sides less the all-over sunburst.”
