Brand: Hofner
Instrument Categories: Bass, Electric, Guitars, SOLD, Solidbody
The Hofner Model 182E2 or ‘Solid Bass’ when sold by Selmer, was built at Bubenreuth Bavaria from 1962 to 1985, and was also available in a single pickup ‘E1’ model.
While Hofner is best known worldwide for the Model 5000/1 violin shaped ‘Beatle Bass’ used by Paul McCartney, they also made many solidbody guitars and basses. The Hofner Model 182E2 uses many of the same components as its more famous cousin, including the pickups, electronics package and ‘Teacup’ control knobs. The scale length is 30 inches or 762mm, the same as the Beatle Bass models.
Based on a double-cutaway body design with styling clearly influenced by Fender products like the Precision Bass, the Model 182E2 bass features a figured Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard bolted to a solid body. The woods used for the body seems to have varied from solid and light woods like Poplar, Ash or Alder, to wood laminates and composites on models with the Tolex-style covering.
This Hofner Model 182E2 solid bass is in good, original and complete condition and plays well. It is currently strung with LaBella ‘Deep Talking’ flatwound bass strings.
With its short scale and light weight, this is a fun bass to play and delivers vintage tone!
This Hofner Model 182E2 bass is sold without case, but will fit many standard gig bags and hard shell cases.
