Brand: Hirade
Instrument Categories: Classical and Flamenco, Guitars, SOLD
The Hirade TH5 is based on the H5 concert classical guitar, but with a good pickup system and preamp – which very unusually contains a 12AU7 vacuum tube!
Here we’re looking at a Hirade TH5 dating to January, 2010 and built at the Takamine / Hirade shop in Sakashita, Japan. It’s in very good clean condition with light wear. This is a good sounding, good playing guitar with the added benefits of a quality pickup and preamp. The original brown Takamine hard shell case is included.
Built using solid woods, the Hirade TH5 pairs a Cedar top for warmth and openness with Indian Rosewood for the sides, back, head plate and bridge. The fingerboard is Ebony, on a Mahogany neck.
For hardware, the Hirade TH5 has quality gold coloured tuners with faux pearl buttons. The pickup is an under-saddle model specifically developed by Takamine. The preamp found in this example is the CTP-2 Cool Tube; the current shipping version is the CPT-3. The 12AU7 tube is run at 3 volts, not enough to emit light or significantly heat the guitar, but certainly enough to amplify, warm and enrich the tone of the piezo elements in the pickup.
Here is a link to a review of the original CTP-1 Cool Tube preamp system from Sound On Sound Magazine.
More From The Builder On The Base Of The Hirade TH5, the H5:
“The H5 Hirade concert classic is handcrafted in our pro series facility that has been building precision quality instruments over five decades.
A sterling example of the luthier’s art, these classical guitars that bear the name of Master Luthier Mass Hirade are still built by hand in our Takamine pro facility in Japan. This guitar features a solid cedar top for warmth and broad dynamic range and a solid rosewood back for excellent projection. These instruments are designed and built to stand beside the finest classical guitars made today.”
