The Harmony Comet Semi-Hollowbody in Trans Red represents the very first semi-hollow electric guitar in our lineup of cherished musical instruments, inspired by the original Harmony H72 of the ’60s.
This double cutaway guitar has an immaculately carved genuine mahogany top and back for warm, well-rounded and acoustic-like tone. The addition of a center block minimizes feedback, and the long-tenon set neck construction increases sustain.
Custom gold foil humbuckers provide sheer musical enjoyment for players who love rock, blues and more, while the push/pull master volume pot extends the Comet’s tonal possibilities by engaging incredible out-of-phase sounds.
A six-in-line headstock pays homage to the original H72’s iconic look, and premium hardware ensures that the Comet will never lose its appeal.
It’s well built and finished, has a decent factory setup, and sounds great. It’s sold with a MONO brand padded gig bag.
Harmony dates back to 1892, was purchased by Chicago-based Sears, Roebuck &Co. in 1916. From the 1940s until closing in 1975 Harmony built millions of guitars, mandolins, banjos ukuleles and other instruments in the low, mid and professional ranges. These instruments were sold under a host of brand names including Silvertone, Stella, Harmony and Vogue. However, the increasing tides of of low cost import models pushed Harmony into bankruptcy in 1975.
In 2018, Bandcamp Americas LLC purchased the name and assets and has begun offering new models like the Harmony Silhouette, Jupiter and Rebel, built at a plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
