❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Malcolm Young Signature Jet G6131-MY Natural

The Gretsch Malcolm Young Signature Jet is really something special, based on a 1963 G6131 Jet Firebird with the modifications the late Young made over the years. That guitar can be heard in Malcolm’s hands on almost all of AC/DC’s albums delivering an unmistakable sound.

The guitar originally had two pickups, and over the years a middle pickup was added – then everything but the bridge pickup was removed and left open, the red top sanded to natural, and the switch holes plugged. The trem was disabled, and just used as a tailpiece.

Gretsch’s Custom Shop offered a fully relic’ed reproduction of Malcolm’s guitar, but it’s been unavailable for some time. Though it is in limited supply, the Gretsch Malcolm Young Signature Jet is part of the production catalog, and is a great representation of this extremely influential guitar. With a svelte weight of just over 6 pounds – 2.8 kilos – its heavily chambered Mahogany body and Maple top make it very resonant. The neck is Mahogany with an Ebony fingerboard, with 24.6 inch scale length and a zero fret. As on the original, the bridge is a Space Control on a pinned Ebony base, and the tuners are Schaller Minis. The electronics consist of a TV Jones Power ‘Tron pickup, master volume, pickup volume, master tone, and an output jack. And of course, the truss rod cover is engraved with Malcolm Young’s signature.

Open-cavity thunder roars from the thin-skin satin finished chambered mahogany body and is magnified by a high-output TV Jones® Power’Tron™ pickup.
