Brand: Greenfield Guitars
Instrument Categories: Acoustic Steel String, Guitars, SOLD
Here is a fantastic Greenfield GF cutaway steel string guitar, built during May 2015 and signed inside the top by Michael Greenfield at his shop in Montreal, Quebec.
The Greenfield GF uses the Florentine cutaway Grand Concert body design of the Greenfield G1, with an X-braced Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood for the back and sides, Mahogany for the body blocks and neck, and Ebony for the headplate, asymmetrical bridge and bound fingerboard. The bridge is a rear-load pinless design with an unusually wide saddle. The top sports a rosette of Spalted Maple bounded by Abalone or Paua shell. Inside the guitar, Michael Greenfield wrote the name of the original purchaser and the date May 2015 on the top. Tuners are Greenfield-branded, very much like the excellent Gotoh 510 with ebony buttons.
This guitar is in very good, clean original condition, with the lightest play wear. It’s very comfortable to play, and has a wonderfully full, rich tone with great presence.
Here is what the builder says about the Greenfield GF model, and the G1 it is based on:
“Slightly larger than an OM, the G1 is an extremely versatile grand concert size guitar. The G1 is quick to respond to even the lightest touch and it lends itself well to many different styles of music. It has a very focused yet open sound with a tight responsive bass, transparent mids and thick, clear, ringing highs. While primarily a fingerstyle guitar, it is also superb for light strumming, acoustic jazz and even classical repertoire.
The GF model is built on my G1 body with its own unique parameters. It has a more open, traditional voice than my lattice braced guitars. It is perfect for the aficionado who appreciates a performance-level instrument without the more ornate appointments and complex options available on my other models.”
