The Godin 5th Avenue archtop model was introduced at the 2008 NAMM show, it was a surprise hit given that this type of guitar has been seen on fewer stages since the early 1960s. Since then, the 5th Avenue has been seen in a number of variations with different pickup configurations, with and without Bigsby True Vibrato tailpieces, with and without cutaways, and in a host of finishes.
Seen here is the Godin 5th Avenue Edition Speciale PT sporting an Indigo Blue finish. This example likely dates to around 2009. Precise dating because the 12-digit serial number used does not encode the date, just the model, quality rating, and production ranking.
The body is laminate Birch, with a Maple neck bearing a Richlite fingerboard. Open gear tuners are at the head, and at the tail there’s a Bigsby B600 True Vibrato Tailpiece with a TonePros roller-saddle Tune-O-Matic style bridge on an Ebony base. Electronics are simple, with a single Seymour Duncan humbucker at the neck feeding through Volume and Tone controls, with amber knobs. It is in very good clean condition with only very light wear.
Like other Godin products, these are well thought out, well built instruments that play well and sound great.
