This G&L ASAT Classic Special Build was a 2004 limited edition and features a tinted-finish Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard, a weight-relieved Swamp Ash body and a nice Sunburst finish.
The G&L ASAT Classic continues Leo Fender’s original design, the classic ‘T-Style’ introduced in 1951. The ‘ASAT’ name refers to a an ASAT (Anti-Satellite) missile system!
Drawing closely from Leo’s classic layout, the ASAT Classic Special Build advances the concept towards what’s often referred to now as the ‘Nashville’ style with a center pickup and five-way switch. The pickups are G&L’s Magnetic Field Design (MFD) single coils, two mounted to a faux-tortoise pickguard and one in the boxed-steel bridge. The bridge has six saddles for individual height and intonation adjustments, and the head has G&L branded non-locking tuners.
This G&L ASAT Classic Special Build is in very good, clean condition with only very light wear and a couple of small pressure marks to the finish, which is in particularly good condition. Fret wear is negligible. The action is comfortable and the guitar plays cleanly.
Sold with its original molded hard shell case.
