The Gibson Memphis ES-335TDN 58 Reissue reproduces the very first version of the revolutionary thinline semi-hollow guitar. This model was the first to bridge the gap between traditional arched-top guitars and then-new solid body models.
At first glance this lovely guitar looks like any of the countless ES-335 models and clones built since then, but the first approximately 150 guitars built for the 335’s spring 1958 launch, the necks lacked binding.
Here we are looking at a Gibson Memphis ES-335TDN 58 Reissue built during 2016 at the now-closed Memphis plant. The TDN breaks down to Thinline, Double Pickup, Natural finish. The 58 Reissue indicates various design features including the unbound fingerboard on a relatively chunky neck, PAF style MHS pickups, ‘no-wire’ ABR bridge, nickel plated hardware, ‘Mouse Ear’ body shape, long pickguard that extends past the bridge and single-ring Kluson style tuners.
This guitar is in very good, clean and all original condition with no more than light fret wear. The aged-toner finish is in great shape, showing no checking, dents or scratches; there is a small dark strap smudge at the heel strap pin.
Sold with the original brown Gibson branded hard shell case, containing the Certificate of Authenticity and warranty card, with a checklist date reading 3/9/16 – March 09, 2016 – and identifying the SKU as ES58168NNH1.
