The Gibson Les Paul Tribute Gold Top uses the same design concepts as the higher-priced models but with simpler appointments, particularly no body or neck binding and a thinner finish.
This Les Paul Tribute was built at Gibson’s Nashville plant during 2018 and is in very good, clean condition with minimal wear. This version uses Mahogany for the neck – many other Les Paul Studio-based models have Maple necks. This guitar plays well, and sounds, feels and looks like a Les Paul!
A great feature used on the Gibson Les Paul Tribute is the Ultra Modern Weight Relief. This process retains a solid core of mahogany under the maple cap while chambering around the perimeter. The provided weight relief is substantial and really lightens the load on your shoulder when playing for longer periods of time. Unlike a full chambered design the solid core limits the effect on the overall tone.
The rounded profile of the Mahogany neck feels smooth to play and the medium jumbo frets makes bending notes much easier.
The electronics featured on the Les Paul Tribute are the traditional two volume, two tone controls with three way toggle switch and 490R and 490T humbuckers with Alnico 2 magnets. They provide a fairly hot output with lots of power and sustain for that classic rock and roll crunch!
