The Gibson Les Paul Standard from 2011 is a bit different from a number of other years, based on a chambered Mahogany body. At 8 pounds, this is one of the lightest Les Paul Standards around – and it looks great.
Dating to March 09, 2011 and built in Nashville, this Gibson Les Paul Standard with Honey Burst finish looks a lot like a lovely early Burst with a nicely but not wildly flamed bookmatched Maple top. The body back is Mahogany with significant chambering, providing a major weight reduction and resonance. The neck is Mahogany with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard, and has a slightly asymmetrical profile, a bit thicker on the bass side.
For hardware, a TonePros locking Tune-o-Matic style bridge and stop tailpiece set are used, and Grover Locking tuners are at the head. The locking tuners don’t influence tuning stability, but they do make string changes noticeably faster and easier. The electronics include a pair of BurstBucker Pro pickups, Amber ‘top hat’ knobs, and the standard Gibson 2-volume, 2-tone and selector switch setup. The output jack is a locking Neutrik part. These guitars were run through PLEK machines at the factory. It plays very nicely.
If you’re looking for a visually beautiful Les Paul Standard that doesn’t carry the cost of a vintage Burst, or the full weight of a solid Mahogany slab – this could very well be it. This example is in very good, clean and all original condition, with only very light wear marks and fret wear.
The original black hard shell case, branded ‘Gibson Gear’, is included.
