The Gibson Les Paul Junior DC – Double Cutaway – appeared in 1958 as a modification of the 1954 single-cutaway version. The next modification came partway through 1961 with a complete redesign of the body as Gibson shifted to what’s now known as the SG. This is a straight-ahead, single pickup, double cutaway design offering unrestricted access to all the frets.

Here we are looking at one of the last Gibson Les Paul Junior DC models built before the shift to the new body design. Built during 1961 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, this fine instrument is in great playing condition. It was professionally refretted not too long ago and plays really well. The tuners, bridge, pickup and most of the electronics seem original; the jack plate, which often breaks, has been replaced. The original cherry-tint nitrocellulose lacquer finish has faded over time as expected, and shows an amount of natural checking. The finish is worn through on the back waist bass side where it interacted with the player.

The P-90 pickup on this Gibson Les Paul Junior DC sounds great, and it balances nicely. The neck has a fuller profile, but is not overly large.

A non-original hard shell case is included.
