The Gibson Les Paul Classic 60s Reissue appeared during 1990 as a reissue of the 1960 Les Paul model, with its key feature being a slim neck profile. This model has been produced in three stretches – from 1990 to 1998, from 2000 to 2008, and since 2014. The headstock decal originally read ‘Les Paul Model’ as the originals did, and this was changed to ‘Les Paul Classic’ in 1993. The pick guard, here not mounted but included, is also engraved with ‘1960’.
This Gibson Les Paul Classic 60s Reissue was built during 2002 at the Gibson Nashville plant, and is in very good, clean condition. The pickguard was originally mounted so the body has the screw holes. However the guard was removed and is in the case’s neck pocket. Fret wear is very minor and this guitar does not appear to have been played much at all. The most vulnerable gold plated hardware, the bridge and tailpiece, show only the smallest amount of wear or tarnish. The ‘Ebony’ or gloss black finish is in very good clean condition, showing natural sinking into the wood grain, and has very few and very light marks.
This guitar plays very well and cleanly and the slim taper profile is very comfortable.
