Built from 1932 to 1945, the Gibson L-00 Steel String Guitar is one of the nicer sounding small body Gibson guitars from the period. Big enough to produce usable volume, these guitars are very lightly built and are very responsive.
This very nice example of the Gibson L-00 Steel String Guitar dates to 1936 and is in good working order. It was recently set up in our shop and thoroughly inspected. All the braces are intact and tightly glued in place. At some point in its life, it’s had a neck reset, and possibly at that time the sides, back and heel were oversprayed with a clear lacquer. This would have been done partly because Gibson’s production method installs the neck to the body before finishing, so a removing the neck to reset the dovetail causes finish damage.
As it is now, Gibson L-00 Steel String Guitar plays very nicely and has a wonderful, open sound. The ‘Firestripe’ pickguard and vintage sunburst really look great together.
A non-original fibre case is included, and we can certainly provide a modern quality hard-shell case.
