Here we’re looking at a Gibson J-45 Standard in Vintage Sunburst, built at Bozeman Montana late in 2016 as a 2017 model. The J-45 first appeared in 1942 and has been in constant production, except for the 1982-1984 period. It has been one of the most popular instruments for solo, group and vocal accompaniment, providing a full rich sound.
The Gibson J-45 Standard follows closely to the traditional models, pairing a Sitka Spruce top with Mahogany for the sides, back, neck body blocks and linings. Since 1967 or so the fingerboard and bridge have been Indian Rosewood.
This example is in overall good condition with light fret wear and a few small bumps and dents. The nitrocellulose lacquer finish is slightly and naturally oxidized, bringing down its gloss. This guitar is fully acoustic, its original L R Baggs under-saddle pickup and preamp set have been removed. It looks great, plays well, and its sound is even better with plenty of volume and presence.
Sold with a non-original hard shell case.
