The Gibson J-45 , produced since 1942 with only one brief pause, is one of my favourite guitars. The round shoulder mahogany dreadnought body and spruce top produces a warm, rich tone that works really well with voice. From 1999 to 2006, Gibson produced a variant of the venerable J-45, the J-45 Rosewood using Indian Rosewood instead of mahogany and Sitka Spruce for the top, with all the warmth of the original plus extra depth and power. As a modern Gibson acoustic, it carries gold plated Grover Roto-Matic tuning gears and a Fishman Matrix under-saddle pickup is installed.
This example Gibson J-45 dates to January 14, 2005 and was built at the Gibson Acoustic plant in beautiful Bozeman, Montana under the supervision of legendary luthier Ren Ferguson. It’s in overall good condition, with minor play wear, and one small dent on the top near the lower bass bout edge.
And it has that Gibson J-45 sound, with the added warmth and power – by which I mean immediate volume and projection – above what most mahogany bodies will produce.
The original hard shell case is included.
