The Gibson J-15 was introduced in 2014 by the Acoustic shop in Bozeman, Montana and is still in production.
Based on the classic and very successful slope-shouldered dreadnought body used for the J-45 and J-50, the Gibson J-15 pairs a Sitka Spruce top with Black Walnut for the sides and back, and has a Maple neck with Indian Rosewood for the bridge and unbound fingerboard. For hardware, Grover Mini Roto-Matics are at the head, and an L R Baggs Element pickup and preamp set is factory installed. The volume and tone controls are tucked under the bass side of the soundhole. The Rosette features an Abalone ring, and the Gibson logo is a gold silkscreen.
This Gibson J-15 is dated to almost the very end of 2015 – December 28th. It is from so late in the year that while the serial number dates to 2015, the truss rod cover is etched ‘2016’. It would not have left the Gibson Acoustic plant until 2016.
Thus guitar is in overall very good, clean condition with minor wear. There are no cracks and no crack repairs, and the Antique Natural finish is in great shape.
The original hard shell case is included.
Here’s the builder on the Gibson J-15 Slope Shoulder Dreadnought:
“The Gibson J-15 is handcrafted from solid tonewoods, Sitka spruce top, walnut back and sides, and a maple neck. Built by our master-craftsmen using the same methods as all Gibson Acoustic models, the J-15 has a hand-fitted dovetail neck-to-body joint secured with hide glue. Finished with an LR Baggs Element pickup system. Available in Antique Natural and Walnut Burst finish.”
