❌SOLD❌ Gibson Firebird X Redolution, 2011

Here’s a rare modern piece, one we seldom see in person – a Gibson Firebird X in the ‘Redolution’ red swirl finish, and with the complete accessory set!

The Gibson Firebird X was one of Gibson’s efforts to fully modernize the electric guitar. It starts with the basic ‘reverse’ offset chambered body built of Ash, and a set Maple neck with Maple fingerboard. The headstock is a more traditional Gibson layout rather than the ‘Fender-esque’ Firebird design. There are three new Firebird FBX mini-humbucker pickups, a tune-o-matic bridge with stop tailpiece, but from there everything is different.

Building on the basics, the Gibson Firebird X includes a piezo pickup mounted in the bridge, a digital Varitone switch, a wireless (Bluetooth) floor controller for the on-board effects, and sliders on the bass side of the body for fast manual control. Tronical ‘Robot Tuners’ are stock. This guitar does require batteries to run its active circuitry, and includes two chargers and five LiOn batteries.

The pickups are not traditional Firebird models. At the neck there is an FBX Alnico V mini-humbucker, an FBX Ceramic middle mini-humbucker, and an FBX Alnico II bridge mini-humbucker. Each coil in each pickup can be accessed and turned on, off, or have its polarity reversed.

The built-in effects include reverbs, delays, distortion, overdrive, chorus, tremolo, and more. The controls include ‘Tog-Pots’, which combine a three-way toggle switch with a rotating center selector.

A custom audio interface is included for direct connection to a computer-based DAW setup, but unlike most other interfaces, this one has an SD card slot and can record on its own, no computer required.

As a guitar – the Gibson Firebird X plays well, and is comfortable. The ‘Redolution’ finish, sometimes called ‘Red Swirl’ – blue was also available – is in good condition, and is naturally settling into the grain of the Ash body.
