In 1955, Gibson introduced three new archtop electric guitars that are related, yet quite different – the Gibson ES-350T, ES-225 and the short scale Byrdland. All three models have a full width but shallow body, with the top traditionally braced. The center block of the ES-335 was yet to come.
The Gibson ES-350T has been built in three periods, with two scale lengths. From 1955 to 1964, it had a standard 24.75 inch scale length. From 1977-1981 and 1992-1993, the scale length is 25.5 inches. As well, the initial production used P-90 pickups till the new Humbucking models were introduced in 1957. This model was intended as a lower cost, yet professional grade alternative to the solid spruce top Byrdland, and uses laminated Maple construction for feedback resistance. The fingerboard is Indian Rosewood, on a Maple neck.
Chuck Berry used one of the early ES-350T models on his early hit recordings, and used a humbucker equipped model from 1957 till the model was discontinued in 1964, and he switched to the ES-355.
This Gibson ES-350T Reissue dates to the last production period, and was built during 1992 as a limited edition. It is in very nice condition, with just the slightest wear on the bass side of the pickup covers. Fret wear is negligible, and the finish is in very clean condition. Currently strung with flat wounds, it plays well and cleanly.
The original hard shell case is included.
