This is an excellent condition Gibson ES-339, this one in traditional Cherry Red and built during 2010 at the Nashville Custom Shop! The original hard shell case and Certificate of Authenticity are included.
The serial number here specifies that this ES-339 was built at Gibson Memphis Custom Shop in 2010. As a note about the serial numbering – Custom Shop serials don’t follow the rest of the company’s model. At this point the serial used CS plus six digits. The first digit is the year, starting in 2010, and the second digit is the location, with 5 being Memphis and 0 being Nashville. So, this is a 2010 model from Memphis.
This guitar is in all original, very good condition with minimal wear. The cherry red finish is in good shape with just a few small dings – nitrocellulose lacquer is very difficult to keep pristine. The hardware is nickel plated with no appreciable tarnish. Burstbucker pickups are installed, with the usual Gibson individual volume – tone – pickup selector circuit.
Tuners are Kluson-style with Keystone-style buttons. These units work very smoothly and look good, but also importantly, they are fairly light. This contributes to an even body balance, and the lower mass reduces the potential for damage should the guitar take a tumble.
Fret wear is absolutely minimal. The neck is a C shape 1950’s style profile, and is quite comfortable. The smaller body size sits well and in any kind of a confined space such as a chair, doesn’t really push the boundaries. On a stage or bandstand (or a couch for that matter!) this can be surprisingly helpful. THe guitar gives everything it’s asked, while taking less space.
On this scaled down design, the bridge seems to be a bit closer to the tailblock, which means that the first fret isn’t such a reach but the full scale length is still there.
The original hard shell case is included.
